After a motor vehicle accident, many people are concerned about fixing their cars. They usually dismiss their own aches and pains only to realize in 2-3 weeks that they have been injured. In Florida, drivers have 14 days after an accident to seek medical care. Seeking care on day 15 means that you are financially responsible for your care. If you have been involved in a motor vehicle accident, please get checked. It does not hurt to do so, however, finding out that you should have been checked when it’s too late will be painful.

What To Do After An Accident

If you have been seriously injured in an accident, chances are you will be taken by ambulance to the hospital. Some people may refuse to go by ambulance but find afterwards that they do have serious injuries. In that case, get to the hospital by the safest means. Injuries that are not life threatening can be seen by a primary care physician.

What To Expect When You Come To Our Office

The doctor will take a complete history including previous illnesses and trauma. A physical examination will be completed and all your injuries will be documented.

A plan of care will be developed for you based on your needs. This may include diagnostic imaging, and consultation with other physicians. Our first goal is usually pain relief, followed by restoration of function. We document everything so that if you decide to file a claim, you’ll have everything you need.
